Breadfruit, staple of an Afro-Caribbean diet18 May 2006
If you're lucky enough to have a market near you that stocks up to serve an Afro-Caribbean community you'll be familiar with the breadfruit.

It's the size of a small melon, a greenish colour and nobbly and it's a staple in the Afro-Caribbean diet. It was the main cargo on Captain Bligh's ship, the Bounty, when the mutiny took place in the 1780's. Clare Jenkins went to Leeds Kirkgate Market.
