It there's one rule of etiquette mothers of a certain age drummed into their daughters it's this; it's common to get your compact out at the dinner table to powder your nose and replace your lippy.
Well, we might think that lippy and powder went out with the ark, but the compact and its accompanying puff – along with fluffy maribou slippers, satin dressing gowns and matching dressing-table sets – are apparently back.
