An exhibtion celebrating the lives of women living in Newcastle - all made out of wool.
Knitting, art and women’s lives have come together in an exhibition currently touring the North of England. Knitted Lives celebrates the lives of women living in Newcastle, and covers items from bicycles and standard lamps to lipsticks and powder compacts - all made out of wool. It’s the brainchild of Alice Thwaite, from the Equal Arts organisation in Newcastle, working with three groups of women ranging in age from late 50s to early 90s. Clare Jenkins has been talking to some of the knitters about their work and their lives.
