For as long as people have been in love and have been able to put pen to paper, they've written love letters. The wives of Henry VIII, the Empress Josephine and Queen Victoria all wrote of love for their husbands and these letters are now to be found in a collection called Love Letters of Great Women. Jenni is joined by the book’s editor Ursula Doyle and by novelist Sarah Harrison to discuss the appeal of the love letter. What does it reveal about the person who has written it? Do love letters written by men differ in style, sentiment and sincerity to those written by women? And in today’s digital age, are we in danger of forgetting how to write them altogether?
