Like many others before her Justine Hardy first went to Kashmir for its breathtaking beauty, its mountains and lakes, to escape the sweltering plains of India. And then in 1989 Kashmir was torn apart by political upheaval and Justine Hardy volunteered to go back, this time as a newly qualified journalist. Since then she has returned countless times and has just published her latest book, In the Valley of Mist, which graphically tells the story of Kashmir’s recent, bloody history through the voices of people she met over the last twenty years. Justine talks to Jenni about Kashmir’s complicated political history.
'In the Valley of Mist. Kashmir's Long War: a family story', by Justine hardy, is published by Rider, ISBN 978-1-846-04146-4
