'After The Fire' - the human tragedies behind a police shooting

Why do some police officers train to shoot and kill and what are the consequences of their actions? That is the premise of a new crime thriller ‘After The Fire’ by Karen Campbell, who herself worked for five years as a police officer in Glasgow. The story centres on Jamie Worth, who has just qualified as a firearms officer and is called to a scene of domestic disturbance. He is called upon to make a split second decision and ends up killing an unarmed young girl. Karen joins Jenni to discuss the human tragedies behind a police shooting and to explore what inspired her novel.

'After the Fire' by Karen Campbell is published by Hodder and Stoughton, ISBN-13: 978-0340935613
