Esther Woolfson, The Birdwoman of Aberdeen14 August 2008
Corvus Book Cover
Esther Woolfson’s account of living in a house full of birds.

Twenty years ago, Esther Woolfson knew nothing about birds but today she shares her home with a venerable old rook called Chicken, Ziki - a nervous young crow - and a difficult cockatiel called Bardie. Over the years, Esther has allowed many birds to roam freely around her house including Spike - a talking magpie - and Icarus - a Starling who could say the ‘F’ word. She has now written about all of them in her book Corvus: A Life with Birds and she joins Jenni to talk about her passion for small feathered creatures.

Corvus will be Radio 4’s Book of the Week next week. You can hear an episode every weekday morning – just before Woman’s Hour - from 9.45 to 10.00am with a repeat after the midnight news at 1230. You can listen again to each episode on the Book of the Week website up to seven days after broadcast.
