The untold history of the Twentieth Century, as told through letters
The Woman’s Hour drama this week is the second part of our series “Writing the Century” which tells the untold history of the 20th century through the letters and written memoirs of both major figures and unknown voices. The drama spans the First World War, following the stories of two women, Ada Reece, an unknown South Kensington housewife and Lloyd George’s long time secretary and mistress Frances Stevenson. Producer Polly Thomas joins Jane to talk about the contrasting experience of these women and the fascinating stories that have been sent in by the Radio 4 listeners.
