Treasures of the British Museum: Ur Headdress11 Jan 2008
Ur Headdress
Burial jewellery from four thousand years ago

And now in the last in our series about treasures of the British Museum, we go back around four and a half thousand years to the ancient city of Ur – in what is now southern Iraq. Louise Adamson met up with Dr Alexandra Fletcher, who’s one of the Assistant Keepers in the Museum’s Middle Eastern Department, to find out about a woman who died in mysterious circumstances. She was found in a vast tomb, buried with a huge quantity of beautiful jewellery still on her head.
