The women who came to Britain to find a husband with a title
Back in late Victorian and Edwardian times hundreds of young American women made an exodus from their homes with the prime intention of finding a husband with a title in Britain. From families that became rich on the back of the Civil War, the so-called Dollar Princesses arrived with their own fortunes. Reporter Felicity Finch went to an exhibition about their lives at the American Museum in Bath.
