The Rebecca myth – living in the shadow of a partner’s ex4 July 2006
Daphne Du Maurier’s novel ‘Rebecca’ has been described as the story of ‘two women, one man and a house’. From Charlotte Bronte to Edith Wharton and even Diana Princess of Wales, the story of new love overshadowed by the hold of an ex partner echoes again and again.

As Hitchcock’s Oscar-winning 1940 film version of ‘Rebecca’ is this week re-screened by the Britsh Film Institute, Jenni Murray is joined by literary critic Hermione Lee and psychotherapist Susie Orbach to explore 'the Rebecca myth'.
