How would a possible new government affect its enforcement?
The Equality Bill, which started its journey through parliament in April 2009, is expected to enter the statute books during 2010. It is seen as the most far-reaching discrimination legislation for many years and will have a major impact on every employer whether public, private or third sector. But by the time the Equality Bill, designed to simplify legislation against discrimination, comes into force, Britain may have had a change in government. So how keen would a new administration be to enforce the Equality Act? And what would this mean for women and other groups most likely to be affected by the bill?
