Around 27 million over-the-counter pills containing codeine are sold every year, but it has been reported that thousands of people have become addicted to the opiate. Last year a parliamentary report warned on the dangers of the drug and called for action to be taken. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have just announced new measures and warnings to minimise the risk of overuse and addiction. Jenni speak to Laura Carvell who was addicted to codeine based products.
