Breast cancer
The impact of studies about possible causes of the disease

Recent research suggests that as many as 40% of cases of breast cancer could be avoided if women adopted a healthier lifestyle. The study - which was carried out by the World Cancer Research Fund - advises avoiding excessive alcohol, exercising more and maintaining a healthy weight. But what do these findings mean for women who already have breast cancer, and how does it affect our perception of the disease? Jane discusses the issues with the academic and broadcaster, Professor Lisa Jardine, who has herself had breast cancer; Antonia Dean of Breast Cancer Care and Dr Kat Arney from Cancer Research UK.
