Dreda Say Mitchell grew up on an estate in the East End of London. It provided inspiration for many of her novels including her latest , 'Geezer Girls'. In 2004, ‘Running Hot’, won a Crime Writers' Association's award for best first novel. As well as her writing, Dreda works part-time as an education adviser in Islington, specialising in literacy programmes for under-achieving black children. She joins Jenni to discuss her career, her latest novel and the inspiration behind her successful crime books.
