Iconic Film Dresses7th August 2008
Film fashion – what makes a dress to remember?

No doubt most of us remember the white halter neck which Marilyn Monroe wore in ‘The Seven Year Itch,’ which will forever be associated with the erotic possibilities of air coming up from a subway grate. But how many iconic dresses can we recall from films made in the last twenty years or so? As an exhibition of dresses designed by film legend William Travilla (including that white halter-neck ) comes to Manchester, we ask which are the it-dresses of our generation?

Jenni is joined by Stella Bruzzi; Professor of Film and Television, Warwick University and Suzie Kennedy; Marilyn Monroe impersonator.

An exhibition of dresses designed by William Travilla – including those worn by Marilyn Monroe – is at the Fashion Museum in Bath till 22nd August, and then touring to the Palace Hotel in Manchester until the 26th August.
