How Brahms has changed her musicality

The Russian pianist Nelly Akopian-Tamarina was banned from playing public performances by the Soviet State, but was eventually granted permission to leave the Soviet Union and settled in Britain. It was here she re-evaluated her musical world and fell in love with the music of Brahms. She explains to Jenni why Brahms is so important to her, and also plays some of his music live on the programme.

Nelly will be playing at the Wigmore Hall, 30 Jan 2008, 7.30pm. Box office: 020 7935 2141 or go through their website
