History
Women and the Space Age23 Jan 2008
An exhibition on the impact of space travel on design and popular culture.

On 4th Oct 1957, Sputnik 1, the first man-made object to orbit the Earth, was launched by the Russians and the Space Race was officially on. Since then, space exploration, and the technology required, has fundamentally changed the way we live our lives in everything from design to popular culture and it is the theme of a new exhibition at the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood in London. Anna McNamee met the museum’s director, Diane Lees and the exhibition curator, Esther Lautman.
