The English rock icon on her eighth album – White Chalk

It’s fifteen years since the singer-songwriter PJ Harvey burst onto the music scene. Now onto her eighth album, Polly Jean has a string of accolades under her belt. She was the first woman to win the Mercury Music Prize; has been nominated several times for The Brits and the Grammies; and named ‘the greatest female rock and pop artist of all time’, in a music magazine poll. Her fans have been described as ‘unusually devoted’, her albums as ‘scarily magnificent’. But she’s never had the mainstream success of some of her contemporaries. PJ Harvey joins Jenni to talk about her life and career.

'White Chalk' from PJ Harvey is released on Universal Island Records Ltd, 2007
