Breast Cancer: Losing a Breast11 Oct 2007
Breast cancer awareness month
The emotional impact of losing a breast on you, and your partner

Elsa is 64 and has had breast cancer three times – the first time she faced it alone. She was divorced with two children. Nearly 20 years later it recurred, but this time she had the support of her partner Len. Elsa had two mastectomies. Len’s attitude is simple – if you love your wife, you stick by her. But how hard is it for couples to cope with the stress of surgery? How can a partner support his wife but also get support himself? Jenni is joined by Elsa and Len and by Sue Parkes, a counsellor.
