Up to forty percent of new surfers are women - what's the attraction?

You might think of surfing as a summer sport, but come autumn there’s more of a swell and the real die-hards get their wet suits on and take to the waves. Figures from the British Surfing Association show that up to forty percent of new surfers are women - there are magazines for women surfers and specialist clothes, even designers like Prada and Chanel have muscled in on the market. To find out more, reporter Fiona Clampin's been to the Hibiscus women-only surf school in Newquay.

The British Open Championships are at Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall 13th - 14th October 2007
