The Dowager Duchess of Devonshire recalls her remarkable family
A new collection of the Mitford sisters’ letters has just been published. The family counted among its friends the Queen, Cecil Beaton, President Kennedy, Evelyn Waugh and Givenchy. Their letters reveal the impact on their lives of their links with fascism, communism and Nazism. Unity Mitford was famously infatuated with Hitler. Diana married Oswald Mosley - leader of the British Union of Fascists. And, Jessica Mitford ran off with a communist.
Ritula talks to the last surviving Mitford sister, Deborah, the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, about her extraordinary family.
