The Microwave31 Jul 2007
The microwave at 40 - friend or foe to good food?

The microwave, as we know it, is forty years old this year. The first countertop model, the Amana Radarange went on sale in the US in 1967. Today, eight out of ten British households have one. So what has the microwave oven done for us? Is it an essential kitchen gadget or a glorified tea warmer?

Joining Jane Little to discuss the pros and cons of microwave cuisine is Lindsey Bareham, a cookery writer for the Times, and Glynn Christian, who presented the BBC’s only microwave cookery programme in the 1990’s.

Dinner in a Dash by Lindsey Bareham is published by Quadrille, ISBN 978 1 84400 456 0
