The difficulties for British Asians to find a suitable spouse
Increasing numbers of young Asians are struggling to find a partner. Alongside their white peers, many of them have put education and careers first and left marriage til later. But the difference is that the majority of British Asians have more restrictive religious and cultural parameters to work with when it comes to finding a partner – by the time these are thrown into the mix, many find themselves fishing in a very small pond of potential partners.
Yasmeen Khan is looking for love – so much so that she recently gave in to her parents offer to arrange the visit of a suitable boy for ‘a nice cup of tea’.
