Mary Moore, daughter of sculptor Henry Moore, remembers her childhood home
Hoglands was the home of sculptor Henry Moore and his wife, Irina, in which they lived for over 40 years. The Henry Moore Foundation has restored the house and last Friday opened its doors to the public for the first time. The Moore’s art collection and furnishings have been reinstalled and both Henry Moore’s studio and Irina’s garden are on show. The whole process has been a collaboration with Henry Moore’s surviving family – in particular his daughter, Mary Moore. Clare Walker meets Mary, to share her memories of the house and her mother and father.
Visits to Hoglands at Perry Green must be booked in advance either by phoning 01279 843333 or visiting The Henry Moore Foundation website.
