The next in our series on British women contemporary artists looks at the work of Tacita Dean, who originally trained as a painter. She is best known for her compelling 16 millimetre films shown on film projectors which are edited at her studio in Berlin. Described as ‘haunting filmscapes’, her work often explores the uncertain frontiers between reality, illusion and imagination, sometimes overlapping with her own experiences.
Her work has been exhibited internationally and recently at Tate Modern winning widespread acclaim. It can currently be seen at Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery.
Felicity Finch went to meet her accompanied by artist and author Rebecca Fortnum.
