Taj Mahal
Described as "heaven on earth", The Taj Mahal is one of the world’s most famous memorials to love.
In Diana Preston's new book, "A Teardrop on the Cheek of Time, The Story of the Taj Mahal", she recalls how in 1631 the Moghul emperor, Shah Jahan, who was devastated by the death of his much-loved wife, ordered the construction of a building of supreme magnificence in her memory. Diana tells Jenni the love story behind this majestic monument, and talks about how powerful and charismatic women dominated court politics from behind the silk screens of the harem.

"A Tear Drop on the Cheek of Time, The Story of the Taj Mahal" by Diana and Michael Preston. Published by Double Day, 2007 ISBN 978035609470
