The Manny27 Feb 2007
Holly Peterson
First it was Cosmopolitans, then Manolos and the Birkin bag, now Woman’s Hour hears about the latest must-have accessory for working mothers in Manhattan – “the Manny”, that’s M for male nanny.

It’s also the title of Holly Peterson’s debut novel, which is a sharp portrait of the super rich living in the Grid - as it’s known locally - the exclusive blocks of the Upper East Side. Having hired a manny for her own son, she talks about the effects of having a shot of testosterone instead of a spoonful of sugar on family dynamics.

The Manny by Holly Peterson is published by Harper on 26th February, price £10, ISBN 978-0-00-723302-1.
