Most of us recognise a chick flick when we see one. But it’s a difficult genre to define. Seen more as a guilty pleasure than an art from, the term chick flick is often used to conjure up images of romantic comedies with plenty of feel good factor, but lacking in substance. Often they are the kind of films that the critics like to dismiss with words like ‘thin’ and ‘frothy’. Jenni is joined in the studio by Samantha Cook, author of the Rough Guide to Chick Flicks and the film critic Nigel Floyd to discuss whether the genre deserves more serious attention.
