This month marks the 100th anniversary of the first description of Alzheimer’s disease by Dr Alois Alzheimer. In the UK over 400,000 people suffer from the condition and many still die not receiving the special palliative care they need. Jenni talks to a daughter about the lack of understanding that her mother’s condition received in an NHS hospital. She also discusses what needs to be done to ensure that people get the best quality end-of-life care with Neil Hunt, Chief Executive of the Alzheimer's Society and Professor Ian Philp, Government Director for Older People at The Department of Health.
