Indian music star Kaushiki Chakrabarty sings live 09 May 2006

The clear, fresh voice of Kaushiki Chakrabarty has made her a rising star in Indian classical music. At the age of two she could carry a phrase perfectly, and now at the age of 25, she is being hailed as one of the few who will make a mark in the 21st century.

Kaushiki sings live in the studio and tells me how she blossomed under the watchful eye of her father and guru, the renowned Indian classical singer, Ajoy Chakrabarty.

The first annual Heart of the World Festival starts on 11 May in Cambridge and runs to May 14 Kaushiki Chakrabarty and Ladysmith Black Mambazo are amongst those artists attending. See website below.

Kaushiki Chakrabarty's album Pure is available on Sense World Music, No. 047
