Redefining rape11 Apr 2006
Only 5.6% of rapes result in a conviction, and new Home Office Figures show that forty rapists a year are escaping prison and are being allowed to walk free with only a caution. Is it the legal definition of rape which is behind the problem? If rape was a lesser crime and came under the law on assault would more offenders end up prosecuted and punished?

The Labour MP Vera Baird QC, and the journalist Carol Sarler discuss the idea of redefining the crime of rape with Jenni.
