Elizabeth Gaskell bought 84 Plymouth Grove after the publication of her first book. Virtually unchanged since Elizabeth Gaskell's day, it's been bought by the Manchester Historic Buildings Trust. It’s recently had some maintenance work done but is still in need of over £2 million for ongoing restoration work.
Judy Merry reports on the project and is joined by architectural historian, Claire Hartwell and Janet Allen from the Gaskell Society.
Gaskell House holds an open day on the first Sunday of the month, 12-4pm.
