At the last election, while the Tories and Labour lost women's votes, the Liberal Democrats managed to increase their share of the female electorate. Yet women still make up only about 15% of the party's MPs. To date, the leadership has been opposed to introducing all-women shortlists to try and increase that number.
Whoever takes over the Lib Dem reigns next week has some work to do to if he's going to keep hold of those female votes. Martha asks in what direction the new leader should be steering the party and whether some form of positive discrimination is inevitable if the party doesn't want to get left behind in the equality stakes.
