Papaya, the most exotic of fruits16 Feb 2006
The papaya is native to southern Mexico and neighbouring Central America but can been grown as far afield as Indonesia.

As well as being a delicacy off the tree its enzymes are the main constituent of the white powder used in meat tenderiser. The most exotic of exotic fruits, papaya has also been the subject of songs and poetry.
