How writers relate to locality and landscape

British writers, like British painters, are known for their love of landscape and their literature is rich in appreciation of the beauties of the British Isles. In an updated edition of her book, A Writer’s Britain, Margaret Drabble explores the relationship between writers and place. She joins Jane with Welsh poet Gillian Clarke to explore some of these deeply evocative writings, to consider how our relationship with landscape has changed over the years, and to discuss the joy and challenges that British writers face in writing about the subject today.

'A Writer’s Britain', by Margaret Drabble, is published by Thames & Hudson, ISBN: 978-0-500-51493-1
