Why are older women more likely to report them?
Musical hallucinations are relatively common, but can often be a disturbing experience. A study recently conducted in Wales suggests that older women tend to report the experience more frequently, and that the hymn 'Abide With Me' is one of the more common ear-worms. So what is it like to have the clear sensation that someone near to you is singing or playing music, only to discover that your brain has simply manufactured the sound?
