Isabelle Huppert and Jenni Murray
The ‘anti-star’ of French cinema

Isabelle Huppert is one of the most venerated and busiest actresses of her generation. She first came to international acclaim in 'The Lacemaker' in 1976, and has gone on to star in some 80 films over the past 30 years. Her pared down portrayals of tortured, twisted and damaged women have won her countless accolades around the world. She was nominated for 12 French César Awards, winning for her role as the psychopathic postmistress in La Ceremonie. She was also the recipient of two Best Actress awards at Cannes, most notably for her portrayal of a self-harming, voyeuristic women in 'The Piano Teacher'. She talks to Jenni about her career and her latest film, 'Home', in which she plays a mother whose family's peaceful rural life is threatened when a busy motorway opens very close to their isolated house.
