This evening, the Royal Society of Medicine will be hosting a debate Banking Crisis: What Should be done about the sperm donor shortage? Many fertility clinics struggle to recruit donors, have long waiting lists for those needing treatment and in some areas have ceased to provide treatment services altogether. Some say the shortage can be attributed to the removal in 2005 of entitlement to donor anonymity, others say this issue is more complex. Manchester Fertility Services is one clinic that is bucking the trend. Reporter Judy Merry visited the clinic and spoke to Jo Adams, Sperm Donation Manager and one donor Graham. To discuss what needs to be done to improve the system and encourage more men to donate, Jenni is joined in the studio by Laurence Shaw, Associate Director of the London Bridge Fertility, Gynecology and Genetics Centre and Laura Witjens, Chair of the National Gamete Donation Trust.
