Health
Making access to IVF fairer18 June 2009
A new survey rates how successful guidelines have been

NICE guidelines in 2004 stated that three cycles of IVF treatment should be offered to women seeking fertility treatment. The aim was to clarify and co-ordinate provision across the country, but the implementation of the guidelines has been erratic. Now more local health services than ever before are offering three cycles, but how can provision become truly fair? And is this an expense too far for overstretched Primary Care Trusts in an era when there is increasing financial pressure on the NHS? Jenni will be speaking to the Public Health Minister Gillian Merron and David Stout, Director of the Primary Care Trust Network.
