How to appeal to women voters
When Labour swept into power in 1997, many people credited their victory to Tony Blair’s ability to galvanise the women’s vote. This was particularly significant as historically women have tended to vote more conservatively than men. But now the Government appears to be in crisis. There's public cynicism over MP’s expenses, there were 'those e-mails', and at the weekend, the Labour stalwart Alice Mahon announced that she was leaving the party. As another election looms is there any chance that Labour will be able to win back the women’s vote? To discuss the issues Jenni is joined by Ann Cryer MP (Labour) for Keighley; Sarah Veal, Head of the Equality and Employment Rights Department at the TUC; and Rachel Sylvester, Political Commentator and journalist for The Times.
