Getting Black and Asian women into parliament23 Feb 2009
How can we increase political representation and engagement?

There are only two Black women in the House of Commons and we’re still yet to see an Asian woman take up a seat in the House. This year a special parliamentary conference has been convened to make practical recommendations to redress such imbalances. So what efforts are political parties are making? Jane talks to Priti Patel, prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservatives in Witham and Rushanara Ali, prospective parliamentary candidate for Labour in Bethnal green and Bow.
