Women and ‘Big Ideas’24 November 2008
Why are there so few 'big idea' books written by women?

Germaine Greer said recently that every week she gets a ‘big idea’ book that ‘explains everything’, and without exception, they are all written by men. With this week’s publication of Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book, Outcriers: The Story of Success, we look at whether the publishing world of these books is dominated by men and, if so, why? Jane is joined by the historian and novelist Lisa Appignanesi, and the literary agent Catherine Clarke.
