Britain has a new sporting hope in the form of 14-year-old tennis player Laura Robson. This year she became the first female British player to have reached a junior singles final at The Junior Championships since Annabel Croft in 1984. It’s an inspiration for young professional tennis wannabes – and their parents. But according to Annabel Croft, junior tennis is a “nasty world”, where cheating and bullying are rife. Amazingly, however, it’s the parents who are doing it. So what’s prompting this sort of behaviour and can anything be done to prevent it? Clare Balding talks to Annabel Croft, her daughter Amber and also to sports psychologist Dr Chris Harwood from Loughborough University.
