Music critics have long been celebrating the Irish-born singer Christine Tobin’s “tough-tender tones”, giving her the reputation as “the most adventurous jazz singer of her generation in this country”. Now her original singing and song-writing has won her the Best Vocalist prize at the BBC Jazz Awards.
