A memoir of life with a Kosovan refugee

Antigona is a Kosovan refugee, who fled Milosevic, torture, and a violent forced marriage. She arrived in London with her children, penniless and unable to speak English. She worked for Kate as a cleaner and nanny for five years, and their relationship developed into friendship. Kate's book, What is she doing here? which is this week's Woman's Hour drama, charts Antigona’s struggles to adapt to British life, and the traditional pastoral society she left behind.

What Is She Doing Here, by Kate Clanchy, is published by Picador, ISBN: 978-0-330-44382-1
