The Orange Shortlist 20083 June 2008
The women and their novels in this year’s contest

The Orange Prize for fiction is now in its 13th year. It’s the UK’s only annual award for fiction written by women, and there is now also The Orange Award for New Writing. Jane looks at the novels and writers in this year's shortlist and discusses the relevance of these prizes for women’s writing with two of this year’s judges, literary editor for the Independent on Sunday Suzi Feay, and novelist Philippa Gregory.
