Sunbeds - the potential risks to young people15 April
Cancer Research UK’s SunSmart campaign

According to Cancer Research UK, 82% of sunbed users first soaked up the artificial rays before they were 35. And a report published by the International Agency for Research into Cancer (IARC) found that people who start using sunbeds under the age of 35 increase their risk of malignant melanoma by 75 per cent. Malignant melanoma is the most common cancer in young adults aged 15-34. So Cancer Research UK’s SunSmart campaign this year focuses on reducing the risk to young people. But the Sunbed Association argue that sunbeds used in moderation do not damage health, and point out that the greatest source of UV exposure is the sun.
