A hundred years since women won the right to stand as councillors.
This year marks the centenary of the Qualification of Women Act - legislation which gave women the right to stand as councillors in the major towns and cities in England and Wales. Jenni discusses this with Baroness Patricia Hollis, one of the honorary presidents of the newly revived Women’s Local Government Society and Cllr Lesley Clarke, the current leader of Wycombe District Council - one of the first areas in England to elect a woman councillor 100 years ago.
