The Bionic Woman27 Sept 2007
Bionic woman
Why are the best female action heroes invariably sci-fi?

The Bionic Woman is back with British actress, Michelle Ryan, formerly Zoe Slater in Eastenders, taking on the title role originally made popular by Lindsay Wagner. The new TV series launches in America this week and is expected on British TV screens early next year.
How does The Bionic Woman compare with other famous action chicks and why are popular female action heroes still largely limited to the realm of sci-fi fantasy? Jenni is joined by Sarah Churchwell, Lecturer in American Popular Culture & Paul Gravett, author of ‘Great British Comics’ to discuss what makes a popular female action hero.
